Margarite Parker Guggolz

Margarite Parker Guggolz, a retired teacher, has been studying metals at the Southwest School of Art for 20 years and is a graduate of the Certificate Program with a Concentration in Metals. Taking her narrative technique from classroom to her studio, Margarite finds inspiration in the people and events around her and creates a story about the moment, always looking for that “punch line” to impact her audience. Materials and processes are chosen because of alluring tactile qualities and significance to the theme in question.

Awards include Best of Metals in 2008, 2010 and 2011, in Southwest School of Art Exhibitions. Major exhibitions include Wearable Expressions in Rancho Palos Verdes, California in 2016, in the Society of North American Goldsmith’s Annual Conference’s CU/29: Contemporary Work in Copper in 2012, and in the Society’s PMC Decade Exhibition in 2008. Publications include Tim McCreight’s PMC Decade, in Barbara Becker Simon’s Metal Clay Beads, published by Lark Books, the PMC Guild Annuals #2 and #5, and Lorena Angulo’s Behind the Brooch.
