Franco Mondini-Ruiz (born 1961) is an American artist of Italian and Texas Mexican heritage who lives and works in New York, New York and San Antonio, Texas. He abandoned a successful career as an attorney in order to pursue his passion for art. Franco’s art has been included in the most prestigious exhibits across the country which include the Whitney Biannual, Museum of American Art, the Houston Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institute.
Franco won the Rome prize studying and painting in Rome, Italy for a year. The Rome Prize is awarded by the American Academy in Rome, in a national art competition to the top 15 emerging artists. Franco has a studio in New York, but currently lives and spends most of his time painting at his studio in San Antonio.
